Duties
Operate Class 8 tractor-trailer combinations with a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 80,000 pounds to transport seasonal agricultural commodities and related freight. Drivers will perform pickup and delivery operations; transport freight containers, refrigerated trailers, and dry-van trailers; dispatch to agricultural shipping locations, packing facilities, warehouses, marine terminals, intermodal rail yards, and distribution facilities; conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections; comply with applicable FMCSA, DOT, state, and company safety requirements; perform routine preventive-maintenance checks; maintain driver logs, mileage records, fuel receipts, toll records, bills of lading, and other required transportation records; use automated dispatch and logistics systems; report delays, accidents, traffic violations, cargo issues, and equipment defects; and safely maneuver tractor-trailer equipment at loading docks, terminals, yards, and other authorized locations.
Drivers will transport seasonal produce and related freight associated with recurring agricultural harvest and distribution cycles. Commodities may include tomatoes, grapes, citrus, leafy greens, stone fruit, melons, peppers, squash, strawberries, and other seasonal agricultural products. The particular commodity and assigned pickup or delivery location may change according to seasonal availability and client dispatch requirements, but employees will perform the same Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Driver occupation throughout the certified employment period.
Drivers will be employed, paid, and assigned by Global Elite Consulting. Work assignments will be coordinated through Global Elite Consulting's Sacramento-area operation pursuant to its client service agreements.
Requirements
1. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A.
2. Current DOT medical examiner's certificate.
3. Ability to read and understand English sufficiently to comply with
traffic signs, signals, and DOT regulations.
4. 3 months of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience.
